Since its founding as a non-profit arts organization in 2001, the mission of the Sun Valley Opera and Broadway has been “to entertain, enrich and educate through opera and the vocal arts.”

Our three visionary founders, Floyd McCracken, Frank Meyer and Marsha Ingham, realizing that the residents of the Wood River Valley and surrounding areas had no practical access to Opera without having to travel long distances, sought to attract classically trained voices and operatic performances to Sun Valley.

Today, the Sun Valley Opera and Broadway has grown to the extent that it now produces both a Winter Festival and a Summer Festival which offer up close and personal experiences with our artists at our renowned Diva Parties & Concerts and at our Signature Salons. Audience and donor support have grown along with us, and our performances continue to receive outstanding reviews.

In 2018, we initiated our Impresario Society membership. This annual membership directly benefits our Artists Fund which covers artist’s fees and expenses. Your contribution to this special membership means that we can continue to bring young and well-established Broadway and opera stars to our valley.

As a key part of our mission, we partnered with Metropolitan Theatres in 2010 and recently upgraded their system in order to continue to bring the Metropolitan Opera HD Live satellite simulcasts from New York to our local movie theater, Big Wood 4 Cinema in Hailey. We offer free tickets to students and Senior Connection clients and provide complimentary coffee and homemade breakfast breads before each screening.
